Attractions in Barcelona

The Sagrada Família Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005) is one of the most imposing structures in the world and is considered one of the greatest masterpieces by the artist and architect Antoni Gaudí. The cathedral has been under construction since 1882, and it should be completed on the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death in 2026.

Park Güell has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. In 1900 Güell, Gaudí's patron, commissioned the architect to build a complex based on the model of an English garden city. Nature and living should form an equal symbiosis in the park. Even if only a few buildings were realized, Gaudí implemented the park in a masterly manner. The garden consists of a magical tangle of paths, arcades, viaducts, walls and bridges.

Casa Milà has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984 and one of the most beautiful buildings of Modernism, a highlight of Antoni Gaudí's work. The building is also nicknamed "La Pedrera" - the quarry. It owes this name to its irregular facade with the many protrusions and its massive shape.

Museums and cultural institutions

The Montjuïc is not only the green heart of the Spanish city, but also a popular place to explore the sights in Barcelona. At the summit is the Castell, a magnificent fortress from the 17th century. The fortress was also a prison for political prisoners. Today the city's military museum tells the story of Barcelona here.

With a height of around 520 meters, the Tibidabo is the highest mountain in the Collserola mountain range. The Camp Nou is the stadium of the famous FC Barcelona and the largest football stadium in Europe. A visit to the stadium is an absolute must for all football fans. Camp Nou is 48 meters high, 250 meters long and almost 220 meters wide; that results in an area of 55,000 square meters. There is also a FC Barcelona museum to the north of the stadium.
