Even festivals and events are becoming a historical highlight in Florence, because the city has a wide range of options, especially for culture lovers: at the Calcio Fiorentino in Costume, for example, an early form of football is presented, the games are played on the Piazza Santa Croce.
Every year at Easter there is the “Scoppio del Carro” ceremony, during which the holy fire is lit and then carted through the city in a cart to bring light to the people. The spectacle ends with a grandiose firework display and the sounds of the Gloria.
